ACF, FCDO – UK aids, Grants for Jigawa Social Protection Program.

The Jigawa State Social Protection Technical Working Group under the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning held a Stakeholders meeting at the Ministry J- CARES Conference hall.

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning Malam Sagir Muhammad Sani Kila welcomed the members of the Technical Working Group TWG and urged them to continue with the good work for alleviating the suffering of the vulnerable groups through effective Ways of reaching the target audience, so to create an enabling environment in the implementation of social protection activities in the State.

Kila, therefore appreciates the efforts and support of the development partners serving in the state, especially Action Against Hunger ACF, for their long outstanding projects and now backs with the new intervention, title Inclusive Social Protection System and Promoting Human Rights Base Intervention, the PS assured the Partners government readiness to collaborate and engage positively.

Also, in his presentation on the State TWG progress report, the Director SDGs and also Focal Person Social Protection Program under the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning Malam Basiru Nasoro mentioned that, the State has developed policies to support the vulnerable people on social protection interventions and other policies relevant, including Foods and Nutrition policy, Social security, Gender Base Violence and human rights policy.
Nasoro reaffirms policy makers commitment on the implementation of social protection programs at MDAs level, which he said over 20 MDAs are implementing many activities on social protection programs targeting different categories of beneficiaries.

Highlighting the key activities to be conducted in the State by ACF, FCDO – UK intervention, the Deputy Head of Department Food Security and Livelihood Mr Kingsley udealor says the project focused on Inclusive Social Protection System and Promoting Human Rights Base Intervention, a pro poor oriented project. He commended the State government efforts for the wonderful performance in the implementation of social protection programs.
Kingsley highlights key areas that will be covered by the intervention, which includes systems strengthening, capacity building and policy formulation, he added that the grant period is for six months duration and possible review.

Food Security and Livelihood ACF explained their Preparation for the launch of the Grant opening shortly and the Plans for training the members of the State Social Protection Technical Working Group TWG.

At the end of the meeting presentations were made by the representatives of different MDAs on the progress report so far in the implementation of social protection programs in Jigawa State.
