The Chairman of Dutse Local Government and Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Dr. Sibu Abdullahi, has called on intending pilgrims from Jigawa State to serve as worthy ambassadors of the state during the 2026 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Abdullahi made the call during a visit to an ongoing Hajj enlightenment class (Bita) at the Dutse Central Mosque, where prospective pilgrims are being prepared spiritually and practically for the sacred journey.
Addressing the participants, the ALGON chairman stressed the importance of discipline, patience, and adherence to laid-down guidelines throughout the pilgrimage.
He urged the pilgrims to strictly follow the teachings and instructions of the Islamic scholars (Ulamas) assigned to guide them during the Hajj rites.
According to him, the Jigawa State Government has taken deliberate steps to ensure a smooth and hitch-free Hajj operation by deploying qualified Ulamas from each local government area to accompany and mentor pilgrims.
Dr. Abdullahi also commended the efforts of the state governor, Malam Umar Namadi, noting that his administration has significantly improved the welfare of pilgrims in the state.
He highlighted that the government has made adequate provisions, including sufficient financial support, decent accommodation, and regular feeding arrangements, aimed at ensuring that pilgrims perform their religious obligations with ease and comfort.
“In the history of Jigawa State, this administration has made Hajj operations more accessible and better organized, providing all necessary support for a successful exercise,” he said.
In his remarks, the Chief Imam of Takur Site Juma’at Mosque and leader of the Hajj class, Malam Yusha’u Abubakar, expressed appreciation to the ALGON chairman for his visit and words of encouragement.
He described Dr. Abdullahi’s presence as a morale booster for the intending pilgrims and commended Governor Namadi for his continued commitment to improving the welfare of pilgrims from the state.
Malam Yusha’u further advised the pilgrims to remain law-abiding, respectful, and focused throughout the Hajj period, emphasizing that proper conduct would not only ensure a successful pilgrimage but also reflect positively on Jigawa State and Nigeria at large.
The Hajj enlightenment classes, commonly known as “Bita,” are part of preparatory activities organized annually to educate intending pilgrims on the rites, expectations, and conduct required during the pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
