In a significant step towards promoting public health, the First Lady of Jigawa State, Hajiya Hadiza Umar A Namadi, has launched a sensitization campaign to educate the public about the dangers of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
The campaign, flagged off in Gumel and Hadejia Emirates on the 21st August, 2025, aims to empower communities with knowledge on disease prevention, transmission, and management.
The campaign featured health experts who shared valuable insights on disease transmission, prevention strategies, and safety measures. This initiative is expected to bridge the knowledge gap and promote behavioral change among the populace.
Hajiya Hadiza Umar A Namadi urged health workers, traditional leaders, religious leaders, and civil society groups to continue spreading the message across the state. She emphasized the importance of collective action in overcoming these health challenges.
The people of Gumel and Hadejia showed a warm reception to the campaign, and their Local Government leaders pledged to sustain the initiative. This demonstrates the potential for community-led interventions to drive positive change.
The First Lady’s commitment to improving healthcare in Jigawa State is evident in this initiative. By promoting awareness and education, she aims to protect the health and well-being of the state’s citizens, ultimately contributing to a brighter future for Jigawa.
