In a heartwarming display of commitment to the welfare of her people, the Jigawa State First Lady, Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi, has empowered over 400 women with cash and 110 school pupils with essential school materials in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The empowerment program, which marked the first batch of beneficiaries, is part of the Remi Tinubu Support Organization (RETSO) Jigawa State Chapter’s initiative to uplift the lives of women and children across the state. The program, held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, drew hundreds of women and youths, showcasing the First Lady’s dedication to humanitarian activities.
During the distribution of the support, Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds to enhance their daily business activities, thereby improving their economic well-being. She highlighted the state government’s efforts to develop Jigawa State through various sectors, including infrastructure, education, health, and agriculture, as outlined in the 12-point agenda of the administration.
“We are committed to making Jigawa State a better place for all its citizens,” the First Lady said. “These empowerment programs are designed to provide a safety net for our most vulnerable populations and equip them with the skills and resources needed to thrive.”
Jaafar Ibrahim Babawo, the program’s sponsor, commended the First Lady’s efforts, saying her dedication to the betterment of the people of Jigawa State would never go unnoticed. He urged the beneficiaries to support the government of Governor Malam Umar Namadi in the 2027 general election to ensure the continuity of development projects and empowerment programs.
Other dignitaries who attended the event include Hajiya Ummi, wife of the Commissioner of Land and Urban Development, Hon. Garba MK. She praised the First Lady’s efforts and encouraged women and youths to obtain their voters’ cards to exercise their right to vote.
The beneficiaries, including Baraka Haruna and Khadija Ubale, expressed their gratitude to the First Lady for the support. They said the empowerment would help them improve their businesses and enhance their economic well-being.
“This support will go a long way in helping me expand my business,” Baraka Haruna said. “I am grateful to the First Lady for her kindness and generosity.”
This empowerment program is not the first of its kind, as the First Lady recently empowered over 500 women with N50,000 each under the Renewed Hope Programme. The event was marked by a warm welcome and salutations from the people of Kafin Hausa Local Government Area, who flooded the venue to show their appreciation for the First Lady’s efforts.
The empowerment program serves as a testament to the Jigawa State government’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens, particularly women and children. As the state continues to develop and grow, initiatives like these will play a crucial role in shaping the lives of its people.
