The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has pledged its full cooperation and unwavering support to the newly appointed Amirul Hajj of the state, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mohammed Hameem Nuhu Sunusi, ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The commitment was made by the Director General of the Board, Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, during a press briefing held in his office in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.
Alhaji Labbo described the appointment of the Emir of Dutse, Sarkin Dutse, as both timely and appropriate, noting that the monarch’s deep commitment to Islam, coupled with his respected role as a traditional ruler and community leader, makes him eminently qualified for the sensitive responsibility of leading the state’s pilgrims to the Holy Land.

According to the Director General, the Amirul Hajj possesses the required religious knowledge, leadership capacity and moral standing needed to guide pilgrims effectively through the spiritual rites of Hajj.
“The appointment of His Royal Highness is highly fitting. He is a leader with profound religious understanding and vast experience in community leadership.
These qualities are essential for the successful coordination and spiritual guidance of pilgrims during Hajj,” Alhaji Labbo stated.
He further assured that the Pilgrims Welfare Board would work closely with the Amirul Hajj in the planning and execution of the 2026 Hajj operations, stressing that the board would continuously seek his counsel and guidance to ensure a smooth, hitch-free and spiritually rewarding pilgrimage for Jigawa State pilgrims.
Alhaji Labbo extended his heartfelt congratulations to the new Amirul Hajj, reaffirming the readiness and commitment of the board’s management and staff to collaborate fully with him in discharging his duties.
He also commended Governor Malam Umar Namadi for what he described as a well-considered and commendable choice, noting that the governor’s decision reflects a commitment to ensuring strong leadership and effective coordination of religious affairs in the state.
“The choice of His Royal Highness as Amirul Hajj clearly demonstrates the governor’s resolve to place the welfare of pilgrims in capable and trusted hands. His suitability as both a religious authority and community leader is not in doubt,” Labbo added.
The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board expressed optimism that the synergy between the board and the Amirul Hajj would contribute significantly to the success of the 2026 Hajj exercise and enhance the overall welfare, safety and spiritual fulfilment of pilgrims from the state.
