The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has received a delegation from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria as part of preparations for the 2026 Hajj operations.
The delegation, led by Malam Bin Usman, visited the state to assess the readiness of Hajj camp and airport facilities that will be used for the screening and airlifting of intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
The team was received on behalf of the Director General of the board, Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo, by the Director of Administration and Finance, Muhammad Umar Sambo.
During the visit, the NAHCON officials conducted an inspection of accommodation arrangements, screening centres at the Hajj camp, and relevant airport facilities. The exercise, according to officials, was aimed at ensuring that the state meets the required standards for a smooth and hitch-free pilgrimage exercise.
Speaking after the inspection, the delegation expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness in the state, noting that Jigawa remains on track to successfully handle its 2026 Hajj operations.
The team also commended the Jigawa State Government for its sustained commitment to the welfare of pilgrims, particularly in the provision of accommodation, healthcare services and other essential logistics.
Jigawa State had in previous years earned recognition for its efficient coordination of Hajj activities, a record the NAHCON team said it expects the state to maintain.
Officials of the pilgrims board reiterated their commitment to building on past successes, assuring that all necessary arrangements would be put in place to ensure a seamless exercise for intending pilgrims.
The visit forms part of nationwide assessments being conducted by NAHCON to evaluate the readiness of states ahead of the annual pilgrimage.
