The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Jigawa State Council, has congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of the 1447AH Ramadan fast, urging residents to sustain the values of compassion, unity, and peaceful coexistence imbibed during the holy month.
In a statement jointly signed by the Council Chairman, Comrade Ismai’la Ibrahim Dutse, and Acting Secretary, Comrade Aminu Umar Shuwajo, the union described the end of Ramadan marked by the sighting of the new moon as a period of reflection and renewed commitment to societal development.
The NUJ called on residents of the state to continue promoting interfaith harmony and to support government efforts aimed at economic growth and social stability. It emphasized the need for Muslims to carry forward the virtues of generosity, discipline, and spiritual devotion beyond the fasting period.
The council also commended Governor Umar A. Namadi for his humanitarian interventions during Ramadan, particularly the provision of free meals to vulnerable and less privileged residents across the state.
According to the statement, the initiative demonstrated the government’s commitment to inclusive governance and social welfare, ensuring that no segment of society was left behind during the sacred period.
“As a watchdog of society, the NUJ closely monitored the programme and is pleased with its successful implementation and the positive impact it had on beneficiaries,” the statement noted, adding that the gesture strengthened community bonds and set a benchmark for future welfare programmes.
The union further expressed appreciation to the governor for supporting its maiden Ramadan Lecture held at the NUJ Secretariat in Dutse, describing it as a landmark initiative.
Reaffirming its commitment to partnership, the NUJ pledged continued collaboration with the Jigawa State Government to promote accountability, unity, and sustainable development in the state.
