The Jigawa State Police Command has achieved a significant breakthrough in its efforts to combat crime in the state, arresting several suspects and recovering stolen items.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, the command has intensified its operations to ensure the safety and security of lives and property across Jigawa State. The Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, has praised the officers and men of the command for their professionalism and dedication to duty.
One of the notable arrests was that of Yunusa Usman, 22, who allegedly attacked two individuals with a knife and stole their phones in Hadejia Local Government Area. The suspect was arrested after a tip-off, and a knife was recovered from him. The victim, Abdullahi Abubakar, sustained a stab wound on his right thigh during the attack.
In another incident, Muhammad Suleman (AKA Officer) and Sale Yahaya, suspected motorcycle snatchers, were arrested in Dutse metropolis. The suspects were caught while attempting to snatch a Boxer motorcycle from a resident. They confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Ibrahim Isah and Abubakar Ahmad, suspected thieves, were arrested in Takur Site, Dutse Local Government Area, with stolen mobile phones. A Samsung and a Huawei phone were recovered from the suspects.
Musa Bala, a motorcycle thief, was arrested in Roni Division with a stolen red Boxer motorcycle bearing registration number AYE 315 VN. The suspect was linked to a case of motorcycle theft in Santar Tsaye village, Roni Local Government Area.
In a separate operation, Aliyu Abba and Muhammad Inusa, suspected motorcycle thieves, were arrested in Dutse metropolis with a stolen black Hyungen motorcycle. The suspects were intercepted by police patrol teams while attempting to escape to Kano State.
The police have recovered several exhibits, including: A knife used in the commission of a crime, three motorcycles, two handsets, a stolen motorcycle with registration number AYE 315 VN.
The suspects will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation. The Commissioner of Police has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to the nearest police station.
