Reports have revealed that a 30-year-old man, Mutawakkilu Ibrahim, stabbed his grandparents in Kano over a dispute over food.
The state police command said it arrested the youth after receiving a report that he stabbed his grandparents, leading to their deaths.
The Public Relations Officer of the Kano Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed that the incident occurred at Kofar Dawanau area on the morning of Thursday, September 25, 2025.
Kiyawa said the suspect had a dispute with his grandmother over food, which led him to stab his grandfather, Muhammad Dansokoto, 75, and his grandmother, Hadiza Tasidi, 65, with a knife, leading to their deaths.
Kiyawa said the suspect was detained at the Major Crimes Unit of the force at its headquarters in Bompai.
