PLANE, JEAF collaborated to support ABEP implementation in Jigawa State

The beginning of a two day workshop designed and organized by PLANE Jigawa Office to deepen JEAF members understanding of the Accelerated Basic Education Program ABEP – a program aimed at providing learning opportunities for out of school children, Nomadic groups, Almajirai and other disadvantage learners across the state.

Delivering a welcome address on behalf of the PLANE State Team Leader Mr Akeem Adewale describes the role of JEAF as the bridge between Policy makers, Communities and Vulnerable learners, he reaffirms PLANE commitment and willingness to support JEAF action Plan in the implementation of Accelerated Basic Education Program ABEP in Jigawa.

Akeem mentioned that we cannot achieve Inclusive education without involvement of the community and consider basic education as a fundamental human rights to every Citizen in Nigeria. Akeem highlights the aims and objectives of the workshop as to support JEAF in developing evidence based Advocacy Plan to Stakeholders on the implementation of ABEP, also to explore and identify priorities areas of ABEP aligned to the state priority indicators, and Strengthening the capacity of JEAF to support implementation of ABEP

Malam Abubakar Nashabaru from the PLANE Jigawa Office facilitates session on the introduction of Advocacy steps and strategies for ABEP implementation, he also guides participants on how to engage Policy makers, Traditional leaders, Community based Management Committees, and other critical stakeholders for soliciting support in the implementation of ABEP in Jigawa State. Another session was delivered on monitoring and evaluation, and the development of JEAF action Plan on ABEP implementation at the line MDAs.

Jigawa Education and Accountability Forum JEAF is a coalition of State actors and Non State actors Platform on Education with sole aims to make education transparent, accountable and accessible for all.

At the end, the two day workshop did more than equipping JEAF with technical knowledge, it also ignited a collective commitment to ensuring that no Child in Jigawa State is left behind. With a straightened network and renewed purpose, JEAF can step back into their communities ready to support the successful implementation of ABEP – turning dreams of education into reality for thousands of Children.
