A group of former Directors-General (DAGs) in Jigawa State, under the leadership of Gambo Mu’az, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the administration of Governor Umar Namadi and contributing to the socio-economic development of the state.
The group made the commitment during a special meeting with the leader and political associate of the governor, Commander Salihu Muhammad Atafi, where critical issues concerning the development and future of Jigawa State were discussed.
The meeting provided an opportunity for members of the group to deliberate on ways to strengthen collective efforts towards supporting ongoing development initiatives across the state and promoting policies aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
At the meeting, the former DAGs expressed their full support for Governor Namadi’s administration, particularly its development agenda, and declared their intention to work towards ensuring that the governor secures a second term in office.
The group said it believes that continuity in governance would provide an opportunity for the administration to consolidate its achievements and further implement programmes and projects aimed at transforming the state.
According to the group, its support for the governor is based on its desire to see development efforts sustained and expanded across Jigawa State.
The members also pledged to make their experience, networks and collective contributions available in support of initiatives that could advance the state’s development.
The group maintained that the development of Jigawa requires collective responsibility, urging stakeholders and citizens to continue supporting initiatives that promote good governance, economic growth, social development and improved living conditions.
As part of the activities of the meeting, the organisation honoured Commander Salihu Muhammad Atafi and appointed him as the Patron of the Association.
The appointment, according to the group, was in recognition of his leadership, political engagement and role in supporting initiatives considered beneficial to the people of Jigawa State.
The development is also expected to strengthen the relationship between the former senior government officials and political stakeholders working towards the continuity of the current administration.
The group said it would continue to engage with relevant stakeholders and contribute ideas and initiatives that could complement government efforts in addressing the developmental needs of the state.
It further called for unity among stakeholders, stressing that collective action and constructive engagement remain important to achieving sustainable development in Jigawa.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by the former DAGs to support programmes and political efforts aimed at strengthening the administration of Governor Namadi and advancing the interests of the people of Jigawa State.
