Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar A. Namadi, has celebrated the 34th anniversary of the state’s creation, highlighting the significant progress made in various sectors. Speaking on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at government house Dutse, the governor expressed gratitude to Allah for the state’s growth and development.
According to Governor Namadi, despite being a relatively young state, Jigawa has come of age in many respects. The state has witnessed significant transformations under successive administrations, with notable achievements in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and agriculture.
Namadi said some of the state’s notable achievements include: An extensive network of roads traversing all parts of the state, with 26 inherited road projects completed and 45 new projects commenced.
Seven tertiary institutions, including two state-owned universities, and improved access to functional and qualitative education. At least one secondary health facility in each of the 27 local governments, with three health training institutions.
He said Jigawa State has become a major contributor to national food security and economic diversification, with significant production of wheat, sesame, rice, and hibiscus.
The governor also acknowledged the challenges facing the state, including a large number of out-of-school children, subsistence-based agriculture, and untapped youth potential. However, he expressed confidence in the state’s 12-Point Agenda, which aims to drive socioeconomic growth and development.
Governor Namadi urged citizens to remain patriotic and committed to the state’s development, emphasizing that everyone has a role to play in making Jigawa State great. He concluded by praying for peace, progress, and prosperity for the state and its people.
