The Chairman of Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Hon. Jamilu Muhammad Danmalam, has introduced a series of interventions aimed at supporting education, security and youth development in the local government.

The initiatives include monthly allowances for volunteer teachers, sponsorship of First-Class graduates for postgraduate studies, educational support for students admitted into Federal Technical College, Hadejia, as well as the provision of equipment to vigilante groups to strengthen community security.

As part of efforts to address the shortage of teachers in some primary schools, the council chairman presented engagement letters to selected volunteer teachers, who will receive N20,000 monthly allowances to motivate them in their teaching responsibilities.

The teachers are expected to fill existing gaps in schools located in areas including Acau Primary School, Gauza Primary School, Idanduna and Gangawa Ward.

The beneficiaries are indigenes of the affected communities and possess National Certificate in Education (NCE) qualifications, making them suitable to support teaching activities in the affected schools.

The volunteer teachers include Aminu Muhammad, Maryam Lawan, Aliyu Yusuf and Abdulsalam Garba.

For some young graduates who have distinguished themselves academically, the council chairman has also undertaken to sponsor their further education to the Master’s degree level.

The beneficiaries include Ashiru Suleiman, Lawan Abdullahi, Sadiq Musa, Sadisu Garba, Kamal Sa’ad Suleman and Aminu Ibrahim, while Musa Suleman and Rabi’u Ahmad, both graduates of B.Sc. Education Chemistry, are also among those listed for support.

The sponsorship covers their online applications and registration fees, providing the beneficiaries with an opportunity to pursue postgraduate education without the initial financial burden associated with the admission process.

For 17 students from Jahun who secured admission into the Federal Technical College, Hadejia, the council chairman has similarly taken responsibility for their online applications and transportation to the entrance examination.

The chairman further pledged to provide the students with other necessary educational materials throughout their studies.

Speaking to the students, Danmalam urged them to remain good ambassadors of Jahun wherever they find themselves and to demonstrate discipline, commitment and academic excellence. He also prayed for their success and a bright future.

The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the council chairman for what they described as a timely intervention that would encourage them to pursue their educational ambitions.

One of the major beneficiaries of the initiative is the volunteer teaching programme, which seeks to address teacher shortages while creating opportunities for qualified young people from the communities to contribute to the development of education in their areas.

In the area of security, the council chairman commended vigilante personnel in Jahun for their contribution to protecting lives and property.

He provided them with firearms, uniforms and touch lights to support their operations and improve their ability to respond to security challenges, particularly within local communities.

The gesture, according to the council, is aimed at strengthening collaboration between community-based security personnel and other formal security agencies.

The chairman also presented a Conqueror LE vehicle to the candidate for the Jigawa State House of Assembly representing Jahun Constituency to facilitate movement during campaign activities.

The various interventions have placed particular emphasis on education, youth development and community security, with beneficiaries describing the support as an encouragement to continue contributing to the development of Jahun.
