Police seeks Journalists support to combat crimes, drug abuse In Jigawa

The Commissioner of Police Jigawa state CP Dahiru Muhammad has solicited media support in his new approach and strategy to tackle crime and drugabuse in the state

CP Dahiru made the appeal when members of the Correspondents Chapel paid him a courtesy visit to his office in Dutse capital

He said. media is pivotal in promoting security consciousness in the society, and enlighten everyone on the role he is expected to play in maintaining peace and stability in the society.

The CP added that, besides reporting what police is doing,the media also build the confidence of the society on the security institutions and make it comfortable for the public to feed the police with vital information.

The newly posted CP noted that, in his new approach, emphasis will be given in streaming collaboration with community through creating sense of belonging in any matters related to the flight and wellbeing of the society.

“This time around we will extend our relationship with community beyond security, to build the community confidence on police and also understand the role everyone is expected to play in promoting peace stability in the society “

Some of the measures also included:Proactive Policing: Creating public confidence and trust in the police. Diligent Investigation and Prosecution: To ensure fair and prompt dispensation of justice. , Community Policing” the commissioner stated.

Speaking during the visit, the chairman of the Correspondents Chapel Comrade Muhammad Zangina Kura said, they were in the commissioner office for farmilaraization and also to strengthen their working relationship with the command.

Comrade Zangina added that, there have been a decades of cordial relations between the command and working journalist in Jigawa state, and they are ready to take it to the next level with the new CP.

” Security is a collective responsibility, from our own side, besides reporting the effort taken by the police in promoting security, we enlighten the public on the role they are expecting to play at different time and different incidents, while some times we draw the attention of the security on issues for taking proactive measures to avert the crime or breakdown of law”

He also assured the CP of the chapel’s commitment to work hand-in-hand with the command to implement the new strategy, which aligns with the broader objectives of the Inspector General of Police Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun. to promote inclusiveness in combatting crimes and maintaining peace and stability in Nigeria
