The North-West Zonal Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State, Hon. Alhaji Muktar A. Khaleh, has commenced a wide-reaching grassroots mobilisation drive aimed at strengthening the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In what observers describe as a bold and strategic move, Khaleh has “taken the bull by the horns” by returning to the grassroots to reconnect with party members and stakeholders across his zone.
His tour, which began in local government areas under the Kazaure and Ringim Emirates, is focused on direct engagement with party leaders, elders, youth groups, and other critical actors within the APC.
During the visits, Khaleh has been holding interactive sessions designed to listen to concerns, assess the party’s performance at the local level, and identify areas requiring improvement.
According to him, sustainable political success depends largely on understanding and addressing grassroots realities.
He emphasized that effective politics must be rooted in community engagement, noting that rebuilding trust, fostering unity, and strengthening party structures are key objectives of the ongoing tour.
Beyond his political engagements, Khaleh has also earned recognition for his philanthropic activities across Jigawa State.
He has provided educational support to students, medical assistance to vulnerable individuals, and empowerment programmes for youths and women. These initiatives have enhanced his reputation as a community-focused leader, particularly within the Gumel Emirate.
Political analysts say his longstanding connection with the people contributed significantly to the APC’s growth in Gagarawa Local Government Area, where he previously served as party chairman.
Under his leadership, the party reportedly witnessed increased membership and stronger grassroots support, culminating in its performance during the 2023 general elections.
Observers further note that such grassroots-driven strategies were instrumental in the electoral success of Governor Malam Umar Namadi, whose administration continues to benefit from strong local backing.
With the continuation of this people-oriented approach, party stakeholders believe the APC is positioning itself for another successful outing in 2027, while also bolstering support for Governor Namadi’s potential second-term bid.
Khaleh’s initiative has been widely commended, with calls for other party leaders to adopt similar grassroots-focused strategies to ensure sustained political growth and unity within the APC.
