Former Jigawa North East Senatorial aspirant, Muhammad Babandede, OFR, OCM, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissing speculations that he may defect to another political party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Babandede, who contested the APC senatorial primary for Jigawa North East, has reportedly been receiving overtures from various political parties seeking to have him join their ranks.

However, his Spokesperson and Media Aide, Muhammad Auwal Suleiman, said the former aspirant had no intention of abandoning the APC, stressing that his commitment to the party remained firm and unwavering.

In a statement made available to newsmen, Suleiman said Babandede remained a loyal and proud member of the APC at the national, state and ward levels.

He explained that Babandede contested the party’s senatorial primary for Jigawa North East, but following the subsequent consensus arrangement by the APC, the senatorial tickets of the serving senators in the state were returned to them.

Despite the outcome of the primary, Suleiman said Babandede had continued to maintain his membership of and commitment to the APC.

“Babandede remains a loyal and proud member of the All Progressives Congress at the national, state and ward levels,” he said.

According to him, the growing interest in Babandede by political parties and individuals across the country was a reflection of the confidence, goodwill and respect he enjoys across the political spectrum.

“He appreciates the confidence, goodwill and interest being shown to him by political parties and individuals across the country. However, his commitment to the APC remains unwavering,” Suleiman said.

He added that Babandede respected the internal processes and decisions of the APC and remained committed to contributing his experience, knowledge and political goodwill to the growth and development of the party.

Suleiman further said Babandede would continue to support efforts aimed at advancing the development of Jigawa State and Nigeria.

He therefore urged Babandede’s supporters, associates and members of the public to disregard reports and speculations suggesting that the former senatorial aspirant had decided to defect to another political party.

He reiterated that Babandede remained firmly within the APC and was committed to the party’s ideals and continued growth.
