The First Lady of Jigawa State, Hajiya Hadiza Umaru Namadi, has flagged off the Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign in the state.
The campaign which was launched in Buji local government area of the state on Tuesday 7th October, 2025 aims to protect children from preventable diseases and promote healthcare delivery, especially in the area of maternal and child health.
The First Lady emphasized that the campaign is not just another activity, but a lifesaving mission that will save countless young lives across the state. She urged parents, especially mothers, to bring out their children for vaccination, stressing that the vaccine is free, safe, and effective.
Mrs. Namadi commended National Primary healthcare development agency, State Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA), Jigawa State Ministry of Health, and other partners for their efforts in promoting child health and immunization.
She urged the wives of Local Government Chairmen to take an active role in mobilizing women and caregivers to ensure the campaign reaches every ward, village, and household.
The First Lady then expressed her commitment for building a healthier future for the children of Jigawa State, who are the future leaders of the state. She urged the public to support the campaign and ensure that no child dies from preventable diseases in Jigawa State.
In his speech, the executive secretary state’s primary health care development agency Doctor Shehu Sambo commended the efforts of governor Mallam Umar Named for his unwavering commitment towards promoting health services in Jigawa state. He said the state’s health centers have been upgraded in the 227 ward across the state assuring that the remaining would soon be covered.
According to Sambo, Jigawa state has been blessed with a First Lady Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi for her concern in health, humanitarian assistance to women, children, and orphan this he said is a sign of a good leadership.
During the flag off, the representatives of WHO and UNICEF have attended and express their happiness as Jigawa state people embrace immunization.
The campaign is a significant step in the state’s collective efforts to protect the lives and health of children, and it is expected to make a positive impact on the healthcare delivery system in Jigawa State.
