No fewer than 900 intending pilgrims from Jigawa State participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise have safely arrived in Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in good health, amid commendations for the state government’s sustained support and coordination.
The successful airlift and arrival of the pilgrims marked another milestone in the state’s Hajj operations, as officials confirmed that all passengers were received without any major health or logistical challenges.
Speaking during a farewell ceremony for the second batch of pilgrims before their departure, Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi called on the intending pilgrims to offer prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity in Nigeria and Jigawa State throughout their spiritual journey.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of pilgrims, stressing that adequate arrangements had been made to ensure their comfort, safety, and smooth participation in all Hajj rites.
He also commended officials of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board for their dedication and professionalism, noting that their efforts ensured proper registration, screening, and clearance of all intending pilgrims.
“I urge you to remain good ambassadors of Jigawa State and Nigeria by conducting yourselves in line with the teachings of Islam and the regulations guiding the Hajj exercise,” the governor said.
In his remarks, the Emir of Dutse and Amirul Hajj, Alhaji Muhammad Hameem Nuhu Sunusi, advised the pilgrims to strictly adhere to the rules and guidelines set by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the Hajj exercise.
He emphasized the importance of discipline, patience, and obedience throughout the pilgrimage.
The royal father also lauded the Jigawa State Government for its continued support, which he said has significantly improved the welfare and coordination of pilgrims over the years.
On his part, the Director-General of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Umar Labbo, described the 2026 Hajj exercise as one of the most successful in recent times. He attributed the smooth operations to the timely intervention and support provided by the state government.
According to him, many of the challenges experienced in previous exercises had been addressed, ensuring a more seamless experience for pilgrims.
“We are committed to ensuring that all aspects of the Hajj operations run smoothly. With the level of preparation and support we have received, we are confident that this year’s exercise will continue without hitches,” he said.
He further commended Governor Namadi for his proactive approach and consistent backing, which he noted had greatly enhanced the board’s capacity to deliver on its mandate.
The pilgrims are expected to spend several days in Madinah engaging in prayers and visiting holy sites before proceeding to Makkah for the main Hajj rites.
The development has been widely seen as a reflection of improved planning, effective coordination, and strong government commitment to religious welfare in Jigawa State.
