FUD Don bags N25m TETFund grant for anti-banditry research

A Professor at the Federal University Dutse (FUD), Jigawa State, Professor Ado Garba Jangargari, has secured a prestigious Twenty-Five Million Naira (N25 million) grant under the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) National Research Fund (NRF) scheme.

The grant was awarded in recognition of Professor Jangargari’s innovative research proposal titled, “Tech for Peace: Engaging Northern Nigeria’s Pastoralists in Non-Agricultural Livelihoods to Counter Banditry and Kidnapping.”

The research project seeks to explore the use of technology-driven solutions to provide alternative sources of livelihood for pastoral communities in Northern Nigeria, with the aim of reducing insecurity, particularly banditry and kidnapping, which have continued to pose significant challenges to the region.

The award is a testament to Professor Jangargari’s dedication to impactful research and his commitment to addressing critical socio-economic and security issues affecting communities across Northern Nigeria.

Members of the university community have described the achievement as a proud moment for the institution, noting that the grant further underscores the growing contribution of Federal University Dutse to national development through research and innovation.

Professor Jangargari is expected to commence the implementation of the research project under the TETFund National Research Fund programme, which supports high-quality research aimed at addressing Nigeria’s developmental challenges.
