The collaboration, spearheaded by the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) and the Nigeria-China Renewable Energy Research Centre (NC-RERC), is aimed at promoting innovation, enhancing scientific research, and developing practical solutions to address the country's growing energy needs. Director-General and Chief Executive of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, said the initiative represents a major milestone in Nigeria's efforts to expand renewable energy development and build local technical capacity. According to him, the partnership brings together the Energy Commission of Nigeria, the Nigeria Governors' Forum, and China Energy International Group Nigeria Limited to facilitate knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and investment in renewable energy projects. Dr. Abdullahi noted that the collaboration will support the country's clean energy transition by encouraging research, innovation, and the deployment of sustainable energy solutions capable of improving electricity access while reducing dependence on conventional energy sources. He added that strengthening partnerships with international institutions remains critical to achieving Nigeria's renewable energy objectives and promoting sustainable economic growth. The initiative is expected to enhance research activities, create opportunities for capacity building, and contribute to the Federal Government's commitment to expanding access to affordable and environmentally friendly energy across the country.
