The Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed CON, has been honored with the prestigious People’s Choice Governors Excellence Award in Paris, France, in recognition of his outstanding record of transformational leadership and good governance.
This is contained in a press release signed by the special adviser to the Governor on media and publicity Comrade Muktar Muhammad Gidado on 20th September, 2025 and made available to Newsmen in Bauchi.
The award, conferred under the category of Transformational Leadership and Good Governance in Africa, celebrates Governor Mohammed’s visionary policies, inclusive development agenda, and his enduring commitment to improving the lives of the people of Bauchi State. This category underscores the importance of leadership that goes beyond promises and delivers tangible results that uplift communities and inspire confidence in governance.
The Governor, represented at the ceremony by his Chief of Staff, Dr Aminu Hassan Gamawa , described the honor as “a call to do even more for the people of Bauchi State, to consolidate the gains we have made, and to sustain the values of service, accountability, and transformational leadership.” He extended his gratitude to the organizers, applauding their objectivity and commitment to spotlighting leaders whose performance provides motivation across the continent.
The Paris event, which attracted leaders, policy experts, and development advocates, saw 10 Governors from across Africa recognized for excellence. Among the honorees were Governors from Kenya, Egypt, Morocco, Ethiopia, and Nigeria, reflecting a broad continental spread of sub-national leadership excellence.
The People’s Choice Governors Excellence Award is organized by an independent Awards Secretariat and Selection Committee, comprising respected African development advocates, academics, and governance experts. The committee is guided by principles of objectivity, fairness, and pro-African values, ensuring that honorees are selected based strictly on merit, impact, and measurable leadership outcomes.
According to the organizers, the awards are designed to spotlight Governors and sub-national leaders across Africa who have demonstrated uncommon courage, innovation, and people-centered governance – with the aim of motivating others to emulate their example.
Governor Bala Mohammed’s recognition comes on the strength of his remarkable achievements, including:
Infrastructure Renewal , transformative investments in roads, housing, and urban regeneration projects.
Education and Health Sector Reforms that include expansion and renovation of schools and healthcare facilities across all 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi State.
Agricultural and Economic Transformation – empowerment of farmers, youth, and women through modern agricultural practices, irrigation schemes, and entrepreneurship programs.
Peace and Inclusion of policies that promote unity, interfaith dialogue, and community engagement.
In his remarks, the Governor congratulated fellow awardees from across Africa, calling them “partners in building a new story of Africa where leadership is not about titles, but about impact, innovation, and legacy.” He also extended an open invitation to the international community to participate in the forthcoming Bauchi State Investment Summit, where Bauchi will showcase opportunities in agriculture, infrastructure, mining, technology, and tourism.
This award in Paris adds to the growing list of honors Governor Bala Mohammed has received for his dedication to transformational leadership, cementing his place among Africa’s most respected leaders and reaffirming Bauchi’s position as a beacon of good governance.
