The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has entered into a strategic partnership with a Mecca-based foundation to provide free eye care services to pilgrims from the state currently performing Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Under the partnership, pilgrims will have access to comprehensive eye care treatment, including cataract surgeries, eye examinations, and the provision of prescribed medications at no cost.

The initiative is aimed at improving the health and well-being of Jigawa pilgrims and ensuring that those suffering from vision-related ailments receive timely medical attention during their stay in the Holy Land.

Speaking on the development, the Director-General of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, described the collaboration as part of the board’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the welfare of pilgrims.

He stated that the board remains dedicated to introducing programmes and interventions that directly benefit pilgrims, both before their departure from Nigeria and throughout their pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

According to him, the free eye care programme will particularly assist elderly pilgrims and those with existing eye conditions, enabling them to perform their religious obligations more comfortably and safely.

Alhaji Labbo noted that the partnership reflects the board’s determination to provide quality healthcare support and improve the overall Hajj experience for pilgrims from Jigawa State.

The initiative has been widely welcomed by pilgrims, who described it as a timely intervention that will help address eye health challenges among worshippers.

The partnership marks another milestone in the efforts of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board to prioritize the welfare, health, and comfort of pilgrims in the Holy Land.
